Sara Moccia was born in Bari (Italy) in 1990. She obtained her master degree with laude in Biomedical Engineering in 2014 from Politecnico di Milano with a thesis entitled Statistical segmentation techniques of liver metastases and necroses in FDG-PET for the automatic evaluation of pre and post thermo ablation PET/CT studies.
Since 2015, she is pursuing a PhD in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano, Neuroengineering and Medical Robotics laboratory (NearLab), working in collaboration with Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), Advaced Robotics Department, Genova (Italy). Her research is mainly focused on the development of an automatic diagnostic tool of laryngeal diseases. Her work aims at extracting meaningful information from the laryngeal vascular pattern in endoscopic images, exploiting computer vision and machine learning techniques.
