Veronica Penza achieved her master degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2013 with the thesis on “Dynamic Tool Compensation in a Bilateral Telemanipulation System for Neurosurgery”.
She is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano, carrying out research at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT), in the Biomedical Robotics Lab, Advanced Robotics Department, in Genova. Her main research topic is about the development of an enhanced vision system to improve safety in single port abdominal surgery. This study involves 3D reconstruction of surgical scenes and organs motion tracking.
She was honoured with the best video award at Hamlyn Workshop on Augmented Reality and Surgical Vision on 2014. Her interests are related to medical robotics and surgical navigation.
