RESEARCH FELLOW POSITION OPEN IN “TECHNOLOGIES AND ASSISTIVE      METHODS FOR PATIENTS WITH NEUROMUSCULAR DISORDERS” – application closed

 

A 1-year research fellow position is now open at NEARLab, in the Lecco campus of Politecnico di Milano: “Novel methods and technologies for assistive devices for patients with neuromuscular disorders”. The researcher will work in a multi-disciplinary environment to design and validate novel devices to promote independent living in patients with neuromuscular pathologies. The fellow will be in charge of the technical support and the data analysis of a clinical trial aiming at evaluating the use of different antigravity arm exoskeleton by patients with neuromuscular diseases. The research activity will be developed within the  USEFUL project in collaboration with Centro neurologico Villa Beretta Ospedale Valduce and IRCCS Eugenio Medea.

RESEARCH FELLOW POSITIONS OPEN IN “BIOFEEDBACK SCUBA SUIT TO PROMOTE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN SPAS” – application closed

Two 1-year research fellow positions are now open at NEARLab, in the Lecco campus of Politecnico di Milano: “Biofeedback scuba suit to promote physical activity in SPAs”. Research
activities will be devoted to the hardware and software design and validation of prototypes of devices for the rehabilitation in thermal pool. The fellow will realize the design and validation of a system of inertial sensors for the monitoring and the biofeedback of hydrokinesitherapy. (project “BioFeedback Scuba suit to promote physical activity at SPAs” ‐ Fondazione per la Ricerca Scientifica Termale grant). Testing activities will start immediately thanks to the availability of an initial prototype.

PhD POSITION OPEN IN TRANSPARENT MONITORING OF THE ELDER AT HOME – application closed

Applications are invited for one fully-funded PhD studentship  funded for 3 years. The PhD will be focused on the development and integration of monitoring system for the continuous transparent monitoring of the elder at home.

The call for a PhD in Programme in Bioengineering is now open at this link; (research topic: “Unobstrusive gesture monitoring by skeleton tracking analysis and sensorized objects to early detects frailty in elderly people”); closing date: 6th March 2017.

This studentship will be offered by the NeuroEngineering section of the Nearlab at Politecnico di Milano (www.polimi.it ) within the framework of the Movecare project that is a recently funded EU project starting in 2017. It will offer the opportunity to engage in scientific collaboration within an ambitious, multi-disciplinary and european team. Opportunities to produce and disseminate original research contributions will be provided.

We are looking for a highly motivated young researcher with a background in Computer Science/Biomedical Engineering/machine learning or related fields.

The applicant should have basic skills in Matlab and C++ (or C) and should be interested in learning how to analyse data mainly measured by inertial and pressure sensors to identify degradation indexes. The applicant is expected to be fluent in English.

The preferred start date is the 1st of May 2017. The successful candidate will be offered a contract of 3 years. The position will offer possible future career options on successful completion.

POST-DOC RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP – application closed

 

The NeuroEngineering section of the Nearlab at Politecnico di Milano (www.polimi.it ) is seeking to appoint a full-time research fellow who will have a key research role in the development of advanced methodologies for monitoring the elder at home by using sensorized daily life objects and a robotic platform embedded with a video to monitor the elder during specific physical and cognitive activities.

The work will be performed within the Movecare project that is a recently funded EU project.  It will offer the opportunity to engage in scientific collaboration within an ambitious, multi-disciplinary and european team.

We are looking for a highly motivated post-doc researcher with a background in Computer Science/Biomedical Engineering/Electronic Engineering/Information Engineering/Machine learning or related fields.

The applicant should have advanced skills in Matlab and C++ (or C). Experience with inertial and pressure sensors and skeleton-based gesture recognition is desirable. The applicant is expected to be fluent in English.

The preferred start date is the 1st of April 2017. The successful candidate will be offered a contract of 1 year. The position will offer possible contract extension for up to two years on successful completion.
