I’m a Ph.D. student in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano, working in collaboration with Medical Microinstruments (MMI). I’m broadly interested in surgical robotics, control systems, and robot learning.
Previously, I completed my Master’s in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, where I focused on control strategies for a transesophageal echocardiography continuum robot, under the supervision of Prof.ssa Elena De Momi as part of the European Artery project.
Autonomy in Robotics for Microsurgery
My current research explores how to bring autonomy into microsurgical robotics. I focus on designing control architectures that combine classical control theory with learning-based approaches like imitation and reinforcement learning. Most of my work revolves around enabling robots to perform tasks such as autonomous suturing and surgeon-in-the-loop assistance.
I’m especially interested in building systems that are not only technically capable but also usable in real surgical settings—bridging the gap between research and the operating room.
