Biomedical Engineer

Research Areas: Predictive Medicine, Computer Vision

Location
Leonardo Robotics Labs, Polimi Campus Leonardo, 20133, Milan, Italy

Polimi Campus Colombo, Via Colombo 40, 20133, Italy

Rossella obtained her Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering (Technologies for Electronics track) from Politecnico di Milano in December 2023, graduating cum laude. Her thesis, supervised by Prof. De Momi, addressed the development of an AI-based path planner for an intra-cardiac steerable catheter for percutaneous mitral valve repair, within the framework of the European ARTERY project.

From February 2024 to September 2025, she was a Research Fellow at the Medical Image Analysis Laboratory of the Institute of Biomedical Technologies, Italian National Research Council (ITB-CNR) in Segrate (MI), within the AI4PKD project. Her work focused on AI methods for medical image analysis and their integration into radiomics pipelines, with particular emphasis on uncertainty estimation and robustness evaluation.

She is currently a PhD student in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano, working on the OptimAI project, in collaboration with Fondazione Alfieri per il Cuore and IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele (Milan), under the supervision of Prof. De Momi and Prof. Redaelli. Her research primarily focuses on machine learning and computer vision applications for the development of an AI-based surgical copilot to assist surgeons during interventions.
