I’m a Ph.D. student in Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano, working in collaboration with Medical Microinstruments (MMI). I’m broadly interested in surgical robotics, control systems, and robot learning.

Previously, I completed my Master’s in Biomedical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, where I focused on control strategies for a transesophageal echocardiography continuum robot, under the supervision of Prof.ssa Elena De Momi as part of the European Artery project.

Autonomy in Robotics for Microsurgery

My current research focuses on advancing autonomy in microsurgical robotics by integrating Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models with traditional control architectures. I design systems that combine classical control theory with learning-based approaches such as imitation and reinforcement learning, enabling robots to understand and execute complex surgical tasks from multimodal inputs. Much of my work centers on developing capabilities for autonomous suturing and surgeon-in-the-loop assistance, where precision, safety, and adaptability are essential.

I’m particularly interested in building robotic systems that are both technically robust and clinically applicable, bridging the gap between AI-driven research and real surgical practice.
