Junling Fu received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2024, with a thesis focused on augmented human–robot collaboration for robot-assisted surgery. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting researcher at the Chair for Computer Aided Medical Procedures (CAMP) at the Technical University of Munich, supported by the TUM-POLIMI Global Incentive Fund. He holds a B.E. and M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Guangzhou University and South China University of Technology, respectively.
Dr. Fu has published in leading robotics journals and conferences such as IEEE T-RO, RAM, ICRA, and IROS, and serves as a reviewer for top venues including Nature Communications Engineering and IJRR. He has also contributed as a UKRI funding reviewer and Guest Editor for the journal Robot Learning.
He is currently working on intelligent medical robotic systems within the PNRR and PRIN initiatives (Next Generation EU), under the guidance of Prof. Elena De Momi and Prof. Alberto Redaelli. His research spans human–robot collaboration, augmented reality in surgical robotics, and robot-assisted imaging.
Robot-Assisted Surgical tasks’ enhancement
(1) Intelligent Medical Robotic Systems, including human–robot collaboration framework, haptics-based teleoperation control, shared control, optimization control, and robot learning
(2) Augmented and Mixed Reality in Robot Surgery, including surgical task planning, intraoperative navigation during intervention procedures, remote visualization, and adaptive control
(3) Robot-Assisted Imaging, including visual servoing control, robotic ultrasound, AI-driven target tracking and segmentation, and RGB-D information
