Fabio received the BD in Bioengineering and the MD, with full mark, in Robotics Engineering from the University of Genova, Italy, in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Since February 2020, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in Bioengineering at Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) at the Human-Robot Interfaces and Physical Interaction (HRI2) laboratory, working in collaboration with Politecnico di Milano in the Neuroengineering and Medical Robotics Laboratory (NearLab), under the supervision of Dr. Arash Ajoudani and Prof. Elena De Momi. He is working actively in the Horizon-2020 European projects SOPHIA and CONCERT, the ERC grant Ergo-Lean and the Amazon Research Awards 2019. He is also involved in transferring technology initiatives with various industrial partners, like the JOiiNT LAB IIT-INTELLIMECH at Kilometro Rosso Innovation District. He was finalist of Solution Award 2020 (MECSPE2020) and of Best Student Paper Award Finalist (I-RIM 2021). His main research lines focus on autonomous loco-manipulation of mobile manipulators in industrial environments and on human-aware task planning and allocation for collaborative robots.

Autonomous loco-manipulation of mobile manipulators

Fabio focuses on exploiting robots capabilities to plan and allocate tasks in industrial environments to enhance the efficiency of the production lines not only from an enterprise point of view, e.g. reducing cycle times, costs, but also in improving robot reactivity and flexibility and, at the same time, considering human motion and decisions and reducing workload, improving ergonomics.
